India Vs England, Guyana Weather Update: Rain Threat Looms Large Over IND Vs ENG Semifinal

NEW DELHI: The wounds from the T20 World Cup semi-final loss in Adelaide to England are still fresh for Team India. Following their impressive victory over Australia in the last group stage encounter, India have already avenged their 2023 ODI World Cup defeat at home and now seek redemption against the Three Lions. They face England in the T20 World Cup semi-finals at the rain-threatened Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday.

The marquee clash between India and defending champions England is under serious threat from continuous rain over the past 12 hours in Guyana. Currently, the temperature hovers around 25 degrees Celsius with complete cloud cover and high humidity at 91 percent.

According to accuweather.com, Thursday morning in Guyana carries an 88% chance of rain and an 18% chance of thunderstorms. The match is set to commence at 10:30 am local time, equivalent to 8 pm IST.

IS THERE A RESERVE DAY?

Unlike the first semifinal in Trinidad, the second semifinal does not have a reserve day scheduled. However, there is a provision for 250 minutes of additional time allocated to attempt to achieve a result if rain interrupts play.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IN GUYANA WASHES OUT THE IND VS ENG SEMIFINAL?

If rain completely washes out the match without a single ball being bowled, or if no result is achievable even after the allocated additional time, India will advance to the final based on their exceptional performance in the 'Super 8s' stage.

India topped Group 1 by winning all three matches against Australia, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

England finished second in Group 1, which was led by South Africa.

The first semifinal will be played between Afghanistan and South Africa at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, on Thursday.
